Federalist Paper #40

"We have seen that in the new government, as in the old, the general powers are limited; and that the States, in all unenumerated cases, are left in the enjoyment of their sovereign and independent jurisdiction."

Just some more proof that congress has no jurisdiction over powers not enumerated in the constitution.  The States have the power to make many of the decisions that are being forced upon them by the federal government.  If a state wants to ban the murder of babies, they should be able to do so, for example.  The supreme court is not meant to intervene in cases that do not belong on a national level.  There are state supreme courts for that purpose.

"precious right of the people to "abolish or alter their governments as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness"

That time may be approaching, but I hope not yet.  Alter, yes, abolish, only if need be.  We are at a crossroads here in the US.  We can either move more socialist, or more capitalist.  There is no middle ground here because if we do, it will cripple us and failure is nearly absolute.  Moving socialist, we are also doomed to failure, yet there is a certain draw the people have to it.  No socialist state has ever avoided bankruptcy.  Europe is now moving back towards capitalism with the last batch of elections since they couldn't handle it anymore.  If this choice prevails, an abolishment of our government will be necessary.  Capitalism is the only way to free ourselves from the grasp of bankruptcy.  Ill sit tight for now and be optimistic, but I do not have confidence in the American people anymore.

"If, according to the noble precept, it be lawful to accept good advice even from an enemy"

President Bush was utterly hated by the left for who knows what reasons.  Obama is loved by them.  What has Obama really done that Bush didn't?  Obama has not closed down Gitmo.  Obama has not ended the Iraqi war.  Obama is pushing for stimulus bills.  Obama is for amnesty.  Exactly what did they hate about Bush that they like about Obama?  It seems to me that just because Bush was a republican, they hated him, even though he was probably the most bipartisan president in recent history.

Sorry, there wasn't much I could draw from that related to today.  Interesting how there were talks of a usurpation of power, when they had no constitution holding them back.  They did much less than our congress does today, and our congress DOES have a constitution that they should be abiding by.  Clearly if one is overstepping it is today's congress.

Just a last thing.  If you have not seen:

We need more people who will just speak common sense.  Rick was simply saying what was on his mind and guess what, the people will eat that up.  Thank you Rick!
